The research, which examined the effectiveness of two types of protective gloves, found that gloves with microfiber insulating material were more effective than standard latex gloves.

“The gloves provide a level of protection that is better than wearing latex gloves,” lead author Dr Daniel Kocher, from the Australian Institute of Occupational Health and Safety, said.

The gloves were used to treat patients with chronic or infectious diseases in the US and Europe.

The study, published in the journal Occupational and Environmental Medicine, used two different types of gloves to treat workers in a healthcare setting.
